Would it be possible to carry on computer parts such as a CPU and a hard drive which I bought over seas (in the US) and bring them back home (UK) to use?

Would that need to be in the checked or carry on luggage?

And would I need to declare them?

Also should I keep them in the original retail box or package them myself?
