I generally have a quick word as I leave - "Just popping out for a minute" etc and then catch the eye of the same lounge dragon as I come back. Even if they're busy serving someone else they generally look up and nod.
Seems like a sort of compromise between queueing again and barging through.

Sure, if you are waved back in that's fine. Otherwise, well, it's part of being British surely?
