What a pity to hear Beach Houses is leaving Waldorf Astoria.
We spent a fantastic holiday there this February. The water houses are magnificent, as well as the spa. And the staff was really great!
There were indeed minor issues with the cleanliness of the room, the internet-speed and I agree with those who stated that any kind of food could only be aquired at enormous costs and often not really worth the high prices.
But the biggest disadvantage will have been the long transportation from Male (around 90mins per seaplane and the island even being in it's own timezone one hour ahead of Male).
It was already obvious during our stay that the resort was far from fully booked and that half of the guests were staying on HH rewards. Although the fully paid room rates were higher than at the Conrad or Hilton, the reward stays were already being offered for far less points than at the other two resorts. So Hilton was very obviously trying to fill the resort without attracting holidaymakers on a tight budget by luring frequent guests to use up their points there and refund the resort by expensive dining.
