Sure, Skytrax rankings would tell you that SQ and CX are better airlines than Ariana or Cubana. But I guess we do not really need Skytrax to tell us that

. The ranking in itself (as in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc...) has, imo, zero value.
I can see more of a point in the kind of 5*, 4*, etc.. broad rankings that they do as a rough indication of quality if it was carried out with methodological rigour and integrity, words that apparently seem difficult to translate in Skytrax-speak.
Yes, I would argue that the fact that 'some' results make sense shouldn't be mistaken for a validation of the whole. Example - rankings of first class lounges. I love the QF one so I'm happy it is winning the category. But do I really believe that BA is no6 in the category while AF is not in the top 10? Not really. Same with premium economy seats. Can I agree that TK wins the category? Certainly - but here again BA 7th, no way! Or best low costs in Europe? Easyjet top in Europe and better than NIKI or Air Berlin? Unlikely. Blue Air, Pegasus and Onur Air in the top 10? Don't think so. Ryanair out of the table, that is for sure! So my guess is that each table picks both the 'truth' and the 'bias' but the methodology means it is impossible to 'clean' the former for and get rid of the latter.
