Calling Toll-free numbers from a cell phone is a big cash cow for the phone companies. You pay for the air-time and the merchant still pays for the 800-number termination. Kaching!
I load both the toll-free number and the local number in my phone book so I have both handy if I happen to be near a land line and the toll-free works better. But when using the cell phone to call, I use the direct number.
At least here in the states, a toll-free number can be local, state-wide, or national, it depends upon what the customer is willing to pay for. Sounds like the cell area codes are not included in the call routing lists for the service. Do you get this message when calling any toll-free number or just SPG? It could be your cell carrier needs to update their service and not something SPG has control over. Anytime there is more than one vendor expect finger pointing.
