I knew I had this bill to pay in July. I therefore charged £10k in dollars to my card in May when I was on 10x, paid the statement off, refunded the payment last week (presumably losing 2.5 avios per £1) and then used the £10k to pay my tax on the MC (earning back 0.2 miles per £1).
