Talking Mini TR - flying disco now available on the 744

MEL-SYD

Breakfast courtesy of QF

Arriving into SYD

G-CIVN sleeping during the day at SYD

A proper massage followed by the usual superb lunch at SYD in the F lounge

Nightclub ambiance on G-CIVN on SYD-SIN-LHR (sorry for the awful iPhone camerawork!)

This problem started occurring half way through the SYD-SIN sector and woke me up along with the guy alongside me in 1A (who moved to 5A where the free aurora borealis show was less noticeable ).

The wonderful CSD (who had already been round for a chat after take-off from SYD) could not have been more apologetic and along with her crew made some calls to London to get authorisation to switch off all the lights in the cabin. They said they would pull out all the stops to get the problem sorted during the brief stop in SIN.

In fact it happened again just before breakfast a couple of hours out of LHR. This time the crew couldn't care less, never even apologised and just ended up switching everything off again after about 15 minutes. What a difference in attitude, and as if by coincidence, on SIN-LHR despite there only being five of us in the cabin we never saw the CSD once over 12:45 of flying time

Interestingly enough, after a short break and shower in the CCR I boarded the 07:55 to TLS via the dreaded A10 and onto the bus walked the skipper of G-CIVN from SIN to LHR.

I always see him him on my very frequent TLS-LHR commutes (he lives not too far from me out in the sticks) and I recognised his name from his PAs the night before.

We had a chat about the flight. He was very surprised and quite put out that he hadn't been informed at all by the crew about the light show downstairs

Otherwise all was about right for a SYD-LHR trip on BA. As noted above, a combination of fantastic and totally unremarkable service. The usual combination of edible and totally awful food (why is BA's food so bad out of SIN? Couldn't they use SQs caterers!?!

We were treated to an amuse bouche that consisted of several thick stone cold slices of veal or pork with zero sauce or seasoning , cheap iceberg salad and a warm apple pie as dessert on both sectors) and the wonderful Pouilly-Fume L'arret Buffatte 2010 was on the menu, but sadly not loaded

In fact the menu out of SIN was so uninspiring I had soup and salad and left it at that.

There were no chocolates offered on either sector which I thought was odd.

A cabana to shower and change in at the CCR and a good breakfast there made everything fine again though

It's sad that giving BA yet another chance on this route, not that the trip was terrible by any means, I was still longing to be back on the QF A380. Unfortunately I was unable to find an A-class seat with QF this time and I had no choice in the dates due to work commitments.
