Hello, this december I'll be flying LHR-EWR on the 14th. I've never flown over the "christmas" period before (I'm not sure if the 14th counts as christmas period or not).
I've flown LHR-PHL/EWR/JFK 4 times in the past year and I've had no problems with long-lines, delays and anything of that nature, but those have been on mid-week mornings in relatively non peak times of the year.
But this is 11 days from christmas, on a friday afternoon (4 pm departure)..
I've seen
statistics that indicated that arriving to EWR in December 2010, there was a delay percentage of 41% (2nd highest delayed airport in the US), but I can't find any 2011 statistics.
Sorry for the long winded post that didn't really get to the point, but I'll just finish with the questions
1. Is the 14th december considered christmas period/will it be alot busier than say flying in the summer or so?
2. General tips for travelling at that time of the year? For instance getting to the airport earlier than you normally would or anything of that nature? Just stuff that might be different from travelling at another time
3. Is there any statistics for 2011 delays?
Thanks in advance for any info.
