IB does not fly YYZ-MIA; AA does. If you try to book it as a single award, BA will charge you the higher multi-partner redemption rate. To avoid that, you can book YYZ-MIA as one award, and MIA-BCN as a second award. But by doing so:

1. you'll be at some risk if your YYZ-MIA flight arrives late into MIA and miss your IB flight, since neither BA nor IB will be obligated to "protect" you; and

2. you'll be hit with double fees if you need to change or cancel both flights.
