E-Certs and PNR Splitting

I searched and couldn't find a thread on this.

I Just used an $ E-Cert I had received from United after an MX delay. After a great deal of phone jockying I was able to get it booked.

The E-Cert was one of the #101XXXXXXXXXXX long string of digits one with no pin number or anything. As I learned from the CSR these are not usable on itinerary's of more 1 person, even if the individual tickets are more than the value of the cert.

More than mildly annoying since now I have split-PNR's even before check-in, which means getting E+ for both of us at check-in has increased in difficulty.

Just thought i'd share this heads up, not sure if e-certs w/ pin's have the same problem.
