Welcome to Poipet, a hive of scum. Why were you paying $25 when the tourist visa is $20? There's no additional cost for leaving the same day, they're just aware people use that point for visa runs for Thailand and figure they'll bend you over and you'll happily oblige them. What you encountered is not typical at other entry points.

You're complaint about the the visa taking up a page is silly.
