Some locations will allow you to drop the car off if they are closed, even though you stay liable for the car until they open and check it in. Might be worth a call to see if the location you want allows this.

I've been through quite a few AWDs and haven't found one to prevent the 1-way fees, without making the rate jump significantly. If you have one you like, I'd be glad to try it on the once-in-a-blue-moon time that I need a 1-way
