Something similar happened to me on a SEA-LHR flight on a 747.
IFE would turn itself down after 5 minutes, whatever show i was watching.

FWIW, following CC advice, i filed a complaint and got 7500 Avios for that. So i would say i was quite lucky given i was so tired i slept for most of the journey
