I never saw this on BMI in quite a few years of travelling with them, GCHs seemed to happily accept this was a 'best endevours' benefit and if they didn't get it they didn't cause a scene at all. Not sure how AA publicise their upgrade benefit but maybe they are bigging it up a little more than they should?
