Interesting point, and I think it is because the issue was raised by an OP (1) whose mistake caused the problem, and (2) whose attitude (at least in the first post) was not exactly apologetic.

I suspect the tenor of the thread would have been very different (and more anti-BA) if the first post had read:

I flew to MAD via LHR today and my bag did not arrive on my flight. Contacted BA who said that it had, in error, been put on the carousel at LHR where it had been taken by someone else. BA had been contacted by that person but when they asked him to return the bag he explained that he was not prepared to inconvenience himself and return the bag straight away. BA are refusing to go collect it for me and say I have to wait until the guy who took it gets round to returning it to LHR. Advice please?
