I did end up requesting a wheelchair at the ticket counter when I checked in - and very glad that I did.

I was met at the gate in Detroit with a wheelchair, had to wait a few minutes for the guy who wheeled me over, but totally worth it.

We landed at Terminal B and had to depart from Terminal A, gate 7, so basically had to go the length of Terminal B, take the tunnel, then go the length of Terminal A, take the express and get to gate 7. We arrived with about 10 minutes to spare, as the second leg of the flight was a little late in arriving. I may or may not have been able to make it on the crutches, but one thing is for sure - I would have been sweaty as all get out
