Many moons ago I had a bright yellow suitcase that I liked very much. One of the hinges broke so I used to put a double pass of red carpet tape right around it in both directions to hold it closed. We travelled many times like that before we went our separate ways.

It used to look like a Red Cross parcel on the carousel but nobody ever took it by mistake!

Obviously this was before airlines and government agencies started having concerns about what might be in a passenger's luggage.
