Can BA really be so unconcerned about the Madrid passenger?
I think the issue is not that BA is unconcerned about the Madrid passenger. I'm afraid you may need to ask yourself the question, "Can I really be so unconcerned about the Madrid passenger?" as the one who made the error of picking up the MAD passenger's bag.
If I were to pick up someone's else's bag, I would be utterly mortified and would pull all stops to make sure that the bag gets delivered to the rightful owner as soon as practicable at my expense, with profuse apologies to BA (who must be having to deal with annoyed MAD passenger) and of course to the passenger, and offer to reimburse the passenger for his/her expenses as well. Asking BA to come and collect the bag and deliver mine would be the last thing on my mind. I do hope that the majority of passengers take that view too, because it can happen to me sometime, despite my bags being distinctively decorated to avoid the possibility.
P.S. Everyone, don't try to disguise your bag to be mine and cause me to mistake your bag for mine though, please!
