We had our bag taken off the belt at Las Vegas after arriving on a Southwestern flight. We waited and waited until the only luggage left on the belt was a identical silver samsonite doing laps. Guessing someone had taken ours I pulled it off and went to the nearby Southwestern luggage desk who rang up the passenger who returned from the taxi queue. No apologies, just mutterings about how he'd lost his place in the queue

The funny thing was on top of the handle was a big tag that said "not yours" on it. I feel he might have checked his brain into that case as well.
Do the right thing and return it to the airport.
Well apparently we would all be surprised (I know a lot on this subject now) but some people are capable or confusing a Black hard case samsonite with a yellow softcase random suitcase and have no problem with it. I have another friend who also mistakenly took someone else's luggage, opened it : " thought hmmm clearly I didn't pack it that way it must have been opened by customs and only realized his mistake the next day...
