I know you aren't being serious here, but I do think individuals should be better informed about the laws of their land, their rights etc. So I approve of this faux-lawyerism!
I find my moral fibre tends to act as a reliable proxy for my lack of desire to study criminal law (35 years and counting at any rate, touch wood), which, when you think of it, is exactly what is intended. So, whilst ignorance may be no defence, detsiled knowledge doesn't necessarily provide a distinct benefit.
