I concur with the others about using the soft-sided Sherpa case instead of a hard-sided kennel. It will remove uncertainty about whether the case will fit under the seat. For me, that would mean huge peace of mind. Every time I've traveled with cats, I've used Sherpa cases, and I've never had a problem.
