Great, so I am not alone! Good to hear this from you, although I obviously sympathise.

I too have a USB style fan which I plug into the side of my laptop when working in clients’ offices, which are often open-plan and not a/c'd to my liking. At least in my own office I can have the temp permanently set to 19 degrees and full power!

Another trick I use, for meetings or public events where I know it’s going to be a little warm, are those instant ice bags which physios use. They come in different sizes, but fit in your pocket. You simply squeeze the inner bag to mix the contents, and its ice cold in seconds and last 20 mins. I buy 100 at a time, and keep them in my car and briefcase. They are a great instant cooler, and I find I can have one in my pocket and the wrist of one hand against it to keep me cool (just not the hand you shake hands with, else people think - jeeez, what's wrong with your freezing cold hand!). Else you can discreetly go off to the w/c and hold it against your forehead to cool down for a few minutes… BUT, the big draw back is not being able to take these on planes or airside at airports in hand-luggage, as they contain liquids, and don't fit in the see-through bags for liquids at security.

Other than that, I just drink a LOT of ice cold drinks and try and keep cool that way.

What a pain it is to be hot all the time.

To the OP, I don’t notice much from the Doc-recommended medicines. I think you are right – probably more placebo effect.

I do take Diazepam 2mg tablets for muscle relaxation at night, for a joint disorder I have. As a result, I do take them to help “keep calm” when I know at a hot public function I might stress and get very hot… That helps, to a degree…
