My understanding of what was posted in TB is that (1) AA's policy is that only high-Eagle passengers are eligible to use expiring SWUs past their use-by date, and (2) agents have the ability to control which SWUs are pulled in order to enforce the policy. The past few years I've used all my SWUs and rarely needed to use them past their expiration; since I have no knowledge of my Eagle ranking, I can't say if my ability to use SWUs past their expiration on the few times I've needed to was due to my Eagle ranking, AA's computer, the agent's actions, or the ability or inability of the agent to control which SWUs were used.
