If the boarding door is in front of it with no bulkhead then there should be almost unlimited leg room, correct? Does anyone know if the FA would allow me to place my backpack on the floor in front of me as a foot rest (obviously not during takeoff / landing ) while sleeping?
1) Yes, plenty of room to get up without bothering 10B.
2) ALMOST unlimited leg room. The emergency exit slide does protrude slightly into your left leg room. Should be no problem placing an item on the floor as a foot rest during flight. I always have my rather big n' clunky sneakers off, and in the same spot for a foot rest, and I always have a small bag at my feet with snacks, etc. Some people try'n use the emergency exit slide as a table. Some FAs will tell you not to - - Some don't even seem to care, even though there is a sign prohibiting it.
