AA began growing Miami in 1989 and continues to add flights, invest in new facilities, and add local jobs. In fact, AA has roughly 3000 more employees in Dade County alone than the entire state of CA! ^

While I'm generally not a big fan of unions, with proper controls and supervision it can be done. The cabin attendants at carriers like BA, CX, and SQ are all union yet they provide excellent service and don't treat the passengers as a nuisance and engage in the behaviors mentioned up thread (sleeping in customer seats, eating passenger food, etc). While I agree the current union leadership and overall labor relations at AA may not be supportive to improving on-board service it CAN be done. Many luxury hotels in the US have union employees and similarly provide great service.
