If you're thinking Miami/Ft Lauderdale, you'll find the Breakers to be about 40 miles out of the way. Palm Beach is a bunch north of FLL, and over an hour from Miami.

The Breakers is a nice hotel, but even when I'm in Palm Beach, it isn't my default hotel. I usually stay at the FS or RC, depending on if I'm with or without kids.

I've never heard a good story about the Setai in Miami. I've never been, but I can't think of a reliable review that was worth the price.

The best qpr for hotels in the region is typically found in FLL.

The RC FLL has one of the best Ritz club lounges in the US, though I think it is closed during certain summer months.

In the Miami area, I usually end up at the RC Key Biscane. It is 10 minutes from the action, but feels a million miles away and has one of the best beaches I've been to in the US in terms of sand/water. They have two pools, one with a fun waterfall and a beach-style entrance and the other which is adults-only and nicely secluded. Be careful, however, to check to see if any conferences are underway when you plan to visit. If an event is underway, you could be overwhelemed as I was once there by the Southeast Restaurant Owners Association.
