Jet said they would choose a bank (paraphrasing here) that's less exclusive and has more reach than Citibank. American Express certainly don't meet either requirement.

I did suggest Bharatiya Grameen Bank
+1.. as per some people in the loyalty management industry who are privy to current conversations jet is having, distribution is one key reason why Jet got out of the Citibank arrangement. For instance, they would be unable to offer the plat card to a member in aurangabad (example!) and other places apart from the top 8 cities. the same people also said there is expectation that there will be multiple tieups (something jet has made known) where there will be different earning rates and privileges with each tie-up. So top cities get Amex, SBI card etc... while next 20 cities get only SBI card etc.

So lets see how far is this true...
