You will not have access to any lounges for your SYD-MEL or MEL-SYD legs. You'll have access to any *Gold accessible lounges prior to your long haul flights.
2. My baggage will be thru checked to my final destination both ways?
You will collect your baggage in SYD upon entering Australia, then recheck with Qantas at the transfer area. Coming back, bags will be checked through from MEL. (this is only due to the flights being on the same ticket. If the AC and QF flights were not on the same ticket, QF wouldn't check them through. QF will only check bags across tickets to another oneworld member.)
3. On my return portion (MEL-YVR) what will be my baggage allowance? Im guessing Qantas will not honor *G status and restrict me to 2 x 23kg checked baggage.
Under new IATA rules, the AC baggage rules apply to the entire ticket.
