Among my hotel options in the area (3 in Guangzhou, 1 in Dongguan, 5 in Hong Kong), this one has close to the best in terms of room size, fitness center (it is rare to find a business hotel with the equipment to be able to do a serious weight training workout), club lounge food offerings. And with the metro station escalator right outside the hotel (literally 15-20 feet from the hotel side entrance to the escalator), you're 1 (3 minutes) metro station away from Guangzhou Railway or 9 (23 minutes) metro stations away from Guangzhou East Railway. From either of these two stations you can access direct tickets to pretty much everywhere trains can take you in China.
The immediate location of the property requires some exploring (or some concierge help) but there is some pretty good foodie locations pretty well hidden very close to the hotel (I found decent Brazilian, Shawarma, Turkish, Dim Sum, and a good Italian joint).
Thanks for the update! Could you confirm that the exec lounge is open on the weekends? If not, do they offer coupons? If not, is it key accessible for soft drinks? Is there free wifi or an i-net terminal in the lounge? Please post & I'll update the exec lounge sticky.
Cheers.
