Yes the end result of Ambassador now and RA later would be the receipt of two kits, one for Ambassador and one for RA. And yes ideally RA status would be extended for 14 months but RA status could also be for 2 months. No need to complicate issues if you have no stays planned in the immediate future. RA status is of no value without the associated stays at an InterContinental.
