Unlike sitting in an exit row, where you would be very much in the way, you're entirely out of the way in a situation like that if you're in 1C/D and 1A wants to help, or even row 2. Same for passengers sitting in the very last row. Nothing wrong with being seated there, but in an emergency event you can stay in the row and let fully able bodied passengers get the door open.
