Starbucks coffee is filth and extremely expensive filth at that. BAs coffee is disgusting. Part of the problem with coffee - and tea to a lesser extent is that we cannot get water to boil at altitude. We can get it hot - so that makes using fresh coffee more problematic as the water will not be hot enough to get rid of the oil that is always present.

Once again the bean counters have us serving cheapest muck going as they think that they can get away with it.

If I ran BA we would have a really superior brand of instant coffee as that should work. I would suggest that we would use Carte Noire as that is about the best that I have tasted. You add the correct doseage fill with hot water - hey presto. I do not use instant at home God Forbid. My favourite is Columbian Blend which to me is nectar.

However what you must also appreciate is that taste diminishes at altitude in spite of that moron chef at Gate Vomit who had no idea (says everything about the tripe that they produce in those kitchens - but it has improved slightly) of this phenomenon (which of course is why he is so suited for the job). When you make ice cream you have to use instant coffee as it alone is strong enough and has enough bitterness to survive the change in temperature and reduced taste when added to cream and milk and frozen.

Still if I ran BA i would probably reduce the Shareholder's dividends as I would eat into the profits on making the airline provide food and beverages that our customers enjoyed. Still I only deal with the customers who pay the fares so what do I know?
