So let me get this straight: you chose to get a cheap fare vs. the most convenient airport for you, and agreed to a contract saying that's where UA needs to take you (and for that price). And now, you are asking them to amend their part of the deal to bring you to your preferred airport, while you still benefit from the lower fare?
Am I missing something here? If you wanted to go to LAX, then you should have bought the fare to LAX. If you were ok trading off to a less convenient airport for the fare savings, then be happy with that.
