I've never done what you're trying. Give it a shot.

If that doesn't work, maybe try combining/giving points to your spouse and then transferring them to the FF account.

You can make an award reservation under your spouse's name, with your points. If the reservation is canceled using this method, the points go back into your account. You also have the option, to use the above link, to combine points from your account, to make up for what the other account is lacking for a free night. If the reservation is canceled, using the point combine form, they will go into the account from the account the award was issued from. Unfortunately, you cannot give points just to be placed into another account.
