I have about 2MM DL unused miles and also quite a few UA miles. I do a lot of award bookings. I used to look for both UA and DL awards. Result....

95% of the time I could find and book what I wanted on UA within 5 minutes (I mean completely finished with the whole process in less than 5 minutes).

100% of the time I had to give up on DL after looking for up to an hour and not finding anything.

In addition, I can get F on international on UA and *A for about the same prices as J on DL. Obviously no F on international DL.

Also as noted, UA has great flexibility because they allow OW as well as a stopover and open jaw on RT.

Also as noted there are no fees whatsoever for 1K.... that even includes getting a refund if you no show.

I don't even bother checking to see if there is anything available on DL any more.
