Hahaha. You're right. I just gave the EXP desk a call, and here is what they said:
My ticket was ticketed through the London office, which, since the closure of the Dublin office, has recently started to outsource their ticketing to offices in
Fiji and
Johannesburg. As there was a slight discrepancy between the name on my new credit card and the name on the ticket, a call would have been routine.
Needless to say, this is not the explanation I was expecting. Fiji? Johannesburg? Well, that's exactly what I was told, and I asked the EXP desk agent to repeat it so I was sure I understood. News to me. She said it was new to her as well, and she had just heard about it.
Now, this is just one EXP agent, so I'm not saying this is all 100% confirmed, but I thought I would report what I was told.
And while that doesn't explain the caller ID from Indonesia, with today's VOIP systems, who knows. But I have to say that I feel content with that explanation… Unless any of you see anything I've missed?
