I had a good experience with First Car. Auto Europe uses them as their preferred supplier there -- and the rates are cheaper if you book through Auto Europe than direct. Thrifty/Dollar has low rates, but Auto Europe will beat Thrifty's rates if you ask them to. First Car used to be the National affiliate in S.Africa, and they are a "first world" car rental company. They upgraded me for free from a full size automatic to a nice SUV automatic when I asked. The published rate for that car would have been obscene, but it was perfect for Kruger.
