If you look at the Hertz US website https://hertzhelp.custhelp.com/app/a...etail/a_id/822

this tells you for gold club members, your spouse is considered an authorized additional driver, without having to go to the counter.

My wife always drives my rental cars in the USA and we never go to the counter. THIS DOES NOT APPLY IN EUROPE!!!!
