The terms of the card say that for a free bag the ticket has to be purchased with the card..which is fine for paid tickets but silly for award tickets..did you use it to pay the taxes on your AC award? If you did, you should be good to go with a free bag. If not.. you will find out when you check in. Regardless, be sure your United mileage number is in your reservation.
