I didn't realise how early the plane was made before delivery, isn't delivery about 10 months away yet?

As for those ridiculous comments about not flying on new aircraft as they are 'unsafe', why do they think it? An unsafe plane wouldn't be certified. If there is any defect in an aircraft then it can take decades to come to attention like the BA crash in 2008. The 777 had its first flight in 1994 yet it took until 2008 to notice a design flaw. So again your logic doesn't make any sense.
