Asia: Hong Kong hands down. Tokyo did not have many options until relatively recently (I remember the times when you were really looking at the Park Hyatt, Imperial, Okura, and then maybe the FS Chinzan So and the Seiyo Ginza as options)
Since that time, you now have The Peninsula, Shangri La, Mandarin Oriental, Ritz-Carlton, The Conrad, and the new Tokyo Palace Hotel to add to this list, most of them being newer than their HK counterparts. Even the new Tokyo Station Hotel opening on October 3rd might be a contender.
(Seiyo Ginza, on the other hand, will close in less than a year...)
