True cod is a cold water fish, adults might wander into waters as warm as 20C but spawning in sub 8C. Not something found in the Amazon. Might be a tropical fish like Cobia. Though that is an Asian tropical farmed fish rather than S American. Might be a fish done with a Latin recipe.
