My experience of EVA is that they ALWAYS ask to see the CC if you book on their site. Only once have they forgotten - that was a TPE-BKK-LHR flight. A message was sent through to BKK where I was asked at the gate. They told me that TPE was very worried!

Another time, I lost the CC concerned, I phoned ahead. They asked me to produce a letter from my CC promising that the transaction would be honoured. I knew this just wasn't going to happen - if nothing else because I was 3 days away from my flight in TPE and the card was issued in the UK. I did have the statement with me showing the transaction going through - they accepted this.

I find it slightly annoying that I've flown with EVA for almost 20 years, am a Diamond card holder and they still go through this little procedure. But that's the mentality of bean counters, and EVA are not alone in the region. You are the mere pax and you shall obey!

I also find it strange that the rule is that you might have to purchase a new full price ticket at the airport if you can't produce the card. If they are worried about the payment, then surely they can just re-charge you the original amount for your existing ticket.

As noted above, you are not asked if you buy via a TA. Also, you are not asked if you buy from an EVA office directly.
