You will be fine as long as the bag remains within the allowed weight limit.

If it is overweight, you will obviously have to pay extra for that privilege.
I had a check-in agent do exactly that at SFO about 3 years ago. The fact that I was traveling Business Class and was EXP did not sway her in the least, and she insisted I pay the (then) $50 oversize charge for a 64" overall measurement. (Interestingly, my traveling companion, also EXP, and I together had a total of TWO [2] checked bags, including the oversized bag). I still see her checking in at the first-class desk from time to time, so don't be so sure about that if flying from SFO.

Of course, YMMV (and likely will!)
