Dating on a plane - any successes chatting a seatmate up?

Just wondering whether anyone here has any personal experiences getting any mileage out of flirting with the person next to them. You'd think that with 3x3 seating and middle seats, you'd often end up with a solo traveler next to you, a subset of which would fit a certain demographic of interest. Notwithstanding those statistics, I never had such luck. On the 50 crosscountry flight segments I've been on since becoming elite, I've had to sit next to a male on 49 of them. The one time I sat next to a female, since was 65 years old. Not exactly my type. There was one other time when I switched out of bulkhead F that if I had kept my seat, I would've sat next to a nice 20s blonde who ended up flirting with the guy who sat next to her (who she apparently thought looked like Nicholas Cage), exchanging contact info. and the whole nine yards despite him sounding quite whiny.

Is it just by chance that I sit next to males all the time, or are there statistics suggesting that airline travelers (or elite airline travelers) skew male?
