After consulting the rate desk, the person I spoke with indicated this was because there were no published fares between FAI and WWT and that award redemptions on Era could only be made between cities with a published 7H fare. I did find pure 7H routings with legal connections and saver space all the way FAI to WWT. Agent also seemed surprised she couldn't issue the ticket.

This seems quite different from all other types of award bookings and is a major limitation, IMO, of Era redemptions. It could take as many as 3 or 4 separate redemptions to connect some Era stations. Still a decent value redemption, but a strange limitation that awards within one carrier network would be limited to the markets joined by publised fares.

I might be able to finagle something for fewer miles if stopovers and OJs are allowed on ERA redemptions but I don't yet know the rules. Agent did confirm that AS and 7H could not be combined in a single redemption.
I don't know the redemption rules for awards on Era using AS miles...but I did check those city pairs on flyera.com

I chose an example date of 8/5, and found availability one way from FAI - WWT for 50 Era points, which implies saver award level on AS. The routing is FAI - ANC - BET - WWT with 2 stops on the BET - WWT segment. Departs FAI 0900 and arrives WWT 1753; there are 2 other options which have forced overnights in ANC.

Hope that helps. I would ask for a supervisor, based on this data, Era will sell that routing.

Edit: I also was able to make flyera.com price out that itin at $477.80 - implying that potentially you will be redeeming 10K AS miles for a $1000 ticket - a pretty solid redemption value...
