On Monday I booked PDX-NYC for a vendor coming to work with us here in NYC (outbound 7/16, return 7/17/).
He requested UA and, given the work schedule, I needed to book him on a non-stop.
Least expensive on UA was about $915 (PDX-EWR), while the non-stop on DL came in at $460 (PDX-JFK).
He ended up on DL.
Damn right!
I always tell my contractors that I will do my best to get them on their preferred carrier, but when the difference is that great, only a fool would book the expensive fare.
