I had a similar situation.
For me, however, it was only a $20 transaction and I was more concerned about getting a new card with a different number than I was with the value of the transaction. This was probably a month or two ago. I never got a "finality" letter - I never expected one - I just figure if a charge from that company ever shows up again I'll be sure to call them and dispute. I should say that with my issue, before I called chase I called the company and they immediately acknowledged the error.
