One data point: last year I hit *G while traveling, so when I passed through IAD (SIN-NRT-IAD-ZRH) I didn't have a *G card yet. So I explained my situation at the Narita UC and asked for the most impressive, formal letter they could give me. They printed out my account summary, highlighted my status, stamped it twice with the official NRT UC seal (yes, this exists!) and signed it.

Somewhat to my surprise, this successfully overwhelmed the LH lounge guardians. So you do have a chance here.

Check-in for both lounges is as soon as you enter -- they determine which lounge[s] you have access to at that desk. Unfortunately, your situation was handled correctly -- UC members have access to the UC at any time, but *A lounges only with a boarding pass for a *A flight departing from the local airport.
