The OP missed his own wedding due to an unfortunate series of events that were out of his control. Yes, these things happen. A 10% off code though? That's el cheapo on AC's part. I am also suspecting that your connecting carrier was likely TP. If you think AC Customer Relations is difficult to deal with, then just try dealing with TP.

I would also agree with Stranger that allowing additional time to arrive and settle goes a long way to a stress-free event (like a wedding that is once-in-a-lifetime event, hopefully).

When connecting via LHR, I always allow for a minimum of 3 hours connection time due to T3 to T1 shuffle, or worse. Even then, there have been a couple of close calls.
